"Mrs. Prater recalls her early life at Kester, Kentucky (Elm Rock) on Quicksand. She discusses her education and her experiences teaching in a one room school. She also mentions home canning, folk medicines, soap making, mail delivery by horseback, taking the 1950 census, food prices and relates many interesting anecdotes relating to her life."
