Interview of Ted L. Brown by Sara White. Brown discusses coal mining and Three Point.
Interviewer's description- "Mr. Brown was born in Bell County, Kentucky where he grew up on a farm. He recalls conditions during the great depression and how they survived by subsistence farming. He started working in the mines when he was 18 years old in Bell County. He later moved to Harlan County where he worked various mines until his retirement. He spent over 21 years living at Three Point, Kentucky and working in the mining operations there. In this interview he discusses: 1) script 2) commissaries 3) company housing 4) medical care 5) mine safety and accidents 6) pay scales and 7) W.W. I and rationing." |
