| Abstract |
Interview of Jim Rich by Bill Harbin.
Interviewer's description-
"Jim Rich was born in Marion County, Tennessee in 1914. Mr. Rich describes the process of making syrup from tapping the trees, boiling the sap down, skimming off the impurities, and the different types of trees you can get syrup from. He talks about all the different farm tools he has from the older ones to the new modern ones. He talks about his blacksmith shop and his log workshop. He describes how to grind corn, fix wagon wheels and how to break steer. He states that he still has horses and mules. Mr. Rich also talks about the different places he has worked at in the mines and tells about the big cut off in 1957." |
