Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College Oral History Collection

The Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College Oral History Collection includes over 700 audio cassettes of interviews with residents of central Appalachia. Many of the interviews were conducted by Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College faculty and students with their neighbors and kinfolks. Work on the oral history collection began in the late 1970s with James Goode's Appalachian Studies class. Interviews in the collection cover a variety of topics including life stories, Appalachian traditions and major events in Appalachia.

In the summer of 2011 the Appalachian Archives began digitizing these audio cassettes in order to make them more accessible. If you would like a copy of an interview please contact the cataloger at the email listed below.
