Abstract Interview of Howard Smith by Donna Smith.

Interviewer's description-
"Mr. Smith was born in Knox County, Kentucky and raised in Bell County, Kentucky. He had little education, because he had to stay home and work. He came to Harlan County, Kentucky on the mid 1940's and began working in the timber woods and later in the coal mines. He talked about operating a Joy loader and driving a mule when he first started working in the mines. He also talked about the bad working conditions in the mines including the long hours, bad pay and the violence."
