Abstract Interview of Harold Patterson by Deborah Sturgill.

Interviewer's description-
"Harold Patterson taught school at Cumberland High School for five years before becoming Director of Upward Bound at Southeast Community College in 1966. He later directed both Upward Bound and Special Services and left the position in 1983. Mr. Patterson was born December 1, 1938 at Putney, Kentucky where he attended elementary school there and later at Rosspoint, Kentucky. He graduated from Loyall High School in 1956. He attended Cumberland College for two years, then taught school for one year and then returned to school and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University. He presently is Financial Aid Director and is outgoing chairman of the Harlan County Board of Education. Topics in this interview include: (1) history of Upward Bound, (2) student profile in Upward Bound, (3) anecdote about Upward Bound, and (4) role and function of county school boards. Mr. Patterson also discusses ideas for improving the present educational approaches."
