Abstract Interview of Alice Owens by Gina Sizemore.

Interviewer's description-
"Mrs. Owens was born at Abner's Branch, Kentucky, November 23, 1909, to a family of nine children in very poor circumstances. Her mother was Amanda Shepherd. Her father moved the family to Verda, Kentucky where he worked in the coal mines and living conditions improved for the family. Topics here include: (1) depression, (2) flu epidemic of 1918, (3) planting by the signs, (4) folk medicine, (5) various anecdotes about growing up on Abner's Branch and (6) raising children in Harlan County."
