Interviewer's description-
"Hazel Skeen begins this interview by discussing her early years in Wise County, Virginia. The primary focus of the interview is on mountain music and she responds to several questions about the importance of music to mountain people and the role of violence, love, the depression, etc. in ballads. Hazel sings several original ballads and some she learned as a child. She also tells a few humorous anecdotes and responds to the conflicts which often arise between City Slickers and mountain people."
