Abstract Interview of Pearl Shepherd by Ron Tolliver.


Interviewer's description-
"Mrs. Shepherd began her teaching career in a one room school where she taught grades 1-5. She met John Shepherd on a trip to Tennessee and they were married July 18, 1936. She then moved to Harlan County and began teaching at Cumberland. During her 35 years of teaching, she has taught at Cloverlick, Totz, Splint, Lynch and Benham (where she began teaching in 1956 and returned in 1974). She comments on a wide variety of topics related to teaching including sports, drugs, how children's home life affect their behavior at school and the changes in education over the years."
