Abstract Interview of Saylor Inez by Sondra Ball.

Interviewer's description-
"Inez Saylor was born December 18, 1939 at Cloverfork, Kentucky. Her father was a coal miner and her mother worked at home rearing her ten children. She was diagnosed at a very early age as having tuberculosis and asthma and was bed fast until she was ten years old. She married when she was eighteen years old and moved to Indiana where she worked for fifteen years at R.C.A. She later divorced and moved back to Harlan County. Ms. Saylor recalls taking 48 hours miner's training and securing a job at Benham Coal Company. Later she applied for and got a job at #32 mines at U.S. Steel, where she was eventually laid off. She was called back to work and is presently working at mine #37 at U.S. Steel. She talks freely about the harassment and other problems women face underground--especially in relating to male coal miners. She also discusses the dangers involved in coal mining and the unnecessary chances miners take. She recalls incidents where she has been endangered herself."
