"Mrs. Burkhart begins this tape mentioning her Irish and Black Dutch ancestry. She briefly mentions her early life and the mid-wife career her mother led. She describes her marriage to Daniel Burkhart and the rearing of her five children in coal camps such as the one at Crummies Creek, Kentucky."
