Abstract Interview of Dewey M. Brock by Jim Mills.

Interviewer's description-
"Mr. Brock went to work at the Pioneer Coal Mines near Kettle Island (Bell County, Kentucky) in 1917 when he was 18 years old and worked there until the mines was closed in 1949. He recounts the use of script, trading at the company commissary and what it was like to work on a cutting machine and as a coal loader. He tells anecdotes about Percy Guthrie as the Big Jim miner and recounts several life saving episodes he experienced during 15 years of tenure as a safety man and coal miner around Straight Creek, Kentucky."
