Abstract Interview of Rich Calloway by Bill Harbin.

Interviewer's description-
"During this interview Mr. Calloway gives a portrayal of the early days of mining. This grueling work was done by hand and with mules for wages too low to get by on. The workers had to furnish their own shovels and powder to blast the coal out. They didn't get paid for any of the work involved in getting the coal out; only the cars of loaded coal brought outside. Mr. Calloway tells the primitive methods of preventing explosions. He says the coal companies owned everything around, including the people."
