Abstract Interview of John D. Adams by Linda Hall. Adams discusses education and his career.

Interviewer's description-
"John D. Adams was born in Letcher County, Kentucky, March 3, 1903. In this interview Mr. Adams tells of attending school at Linefork, Kentucky. He states that his mother died and his father remarried and his stepmother didn't believe in school so she made him quit. He stated he finished high school in 1928 (second highest in his class). He talks about working in the mines for Perry Garman at Carsfork in Perry County, Kentucky and explains why he later decided to go to college and about attending Berea College. Mr. Adams talks about the different jobs he done to pay for his college education and mentions a lady named Ethel Woods, who helped him a lot and who he later married. Mr. Adams talks about teaching school at Big Leatherwood in Perry County. The school was then called Delpha and had an attendance of 75 students. Mr. Adams recalls a teachers salary then and now and describes how he felt when he retired."
