Interview of Ruth Vicini by Mary Vicini. Ruth Vicini discusses her background and the coal camp at Lynch, Kentucky.
Interviewer's description- "Mrs. Vicini relates information about her ancestors, birthplaces, occupations, etc. She relates an interesting story about her great-grandfather being killed by several armed men who invaded his home during the civil war. She recounts her life in the U.S. Steel Coal Camp at Lynch, Kentucky describing the layout of houses and buildings, communications, company store operation, hotel operation, religious influences on the community, education, her own involvement with jobs, with U.S. Steel as a clerk in the commissary and in the payroll office, hospital, customs and traditions, crafts, food and entertainment." |
